YEAR 7 BIRD BOX PROJECT T3
Members of the Y7 after school club completed their bird box project. Designed to encourage small birds to nest around school, many of the boxes have perches, hinged lids or even balconies, as well as the usual nesting area. We will get them put up in trees and under the roof eaves and see if any of the local birds want to move in.

Y7 TERM 2
In the term 2 Y7 D&T club, students have been working on the Rube Goldberg Machine for the Nord Anglia Global Challenge.
Working in pairs, they have each completed part of the machine's process.

This term there has been a special ECA just for Y7 students to develop their designing and making skills.
They worked on two projects: the first involved making a small ball bearing game and the second saw them designing and making candle holders. Both projects were a great success. |

TERM 2 ECA CLUB 2015
7.5 The space capsule set for Flashgordon is now finished with the 3 flashing light control panels safely insatalled and working. The major challenge now is how to get the capsule from the workshop down to the drama studio for rehearsals and the performance.
A small group of elite DT Club members is hard at work building a space capsule for the Secondary School annual production of "FlashGordon".
Check back here for updates on its progress. So far they have assembled a frame for the rotating platform. 16.3: The carpet has gone in and we have silver and red seating for the crew. Sides of the fuselage with portholes have been attached, though with an ingenious system that allows the rocket to be taken down to the theatre in sections. |

TERM 3 2014
Electronic dice project
ECA Students Working on after school projects
TERM 1 ECA
The first after school club of the year has begun with a large group featuring some veterans as well as some new comers.
Participants are investigating cam mechanisms by building an automaton, a kind of 18th century mechanical toy.
Woodworking skills need to be good, particularly in creating the supporting frame. At the moment we are fitting dowel rods and ensuring they can move freely in the mechanism.
TERM 2 ECA
The second after school club participants are working with electronics to produce powered products. This will involve understanding components and accurate soldering skills. After an initial skills session soldering up a small torch, we are working on a dice game that randomly creates a score using a PIC controller. When it works, the cool thing will be to create a neat housing for the package out of plastics or even wood, using the laser cutter.
